BIOGRAPHY
My origin is from South Korea, where I was raised through my college and adult years. Currently I am residing in Southern California, U.S.A.
My interest in arts started at preschool age, the first painting was a portrait of my mother. When I showed to her, she was so happy about it and gave me joyful encouragement in reward. At an early age I never thought about becoming a serious painter or artist in my future. Times of decision comes about major, my father was against art, being prejudiced by that the arts is not something you can think of as a vocational choice. Resulting in major in English literature for my easy access to general and regular jobs, even during those times, I could find my niches by reading and studying art history and lives of many artists. Upon completion of college, I worked as intern copy artist at Fine Art Reproduction Company for an about one and half years.
No one can avoid paying the bills, meaning I have my daily full time job at present, however, I should say my career choice is definitely pursuing art. As a self taught artist, I had to spend numerous weekends painting for many years. Meanwhile, I found wonderful and amazing medium soft pastel giving unlimited freedom.

Artist statement
Art critics John Berger says "Seeing precedes talking, infants does not learn to talk until they perceive things by seeing. "By seeing, people can determine and identify themselves in relationship to their surroundings. Appreciation of the arts through fresh contemplation often reveals experimental voyage to renowned view point and vision. Ultimately, we can even explore a certain type of spiritual endeavor enough to transform the long-time pursuit into something real on hands.
The novel titled "Girl with a pearl earring" was inspired by looking at the painting titled in the same name done by Dutch painter Vermeer according to the writer. La Joconda (known as Mona Lisa) by Leonardo Vinci, which is most famous painting in the history, still triggers the imagination of many artists and art-fans. The mysterious and inseparable smile yields many kinds of storytelling lines. Nobody could point out the meaning of the artistic revolution, and therefore, accurate interpretation of the ambiguous smile had been into the eternal riddle for three hundreds years long.
Visual experience runs and controls the sensibility and intelligence to modify attitude to an extent or sometimes whole meaning of existence. Impressionist painter Claude Monet saw the light plays with the color in the outdoor. Therefore, he fell in love with colors for his entire life. He says "Color is my day-long obsession, joy and torment."
My act of painting is eventually to put all the enthusiasm and passion, a piece of sensible pure heart into the white surface (canvas or paper). The white stands out to me a signal for my free hour and my breathing space to enjoy the transition of adventurous journey into unpredictable phase, but the output should be a predictable satisfaction. To perform these contents, I mostly work in soft pastel, but not limited to it. I like pastel much for its luminosity of color, immediacy of result and handy access.
The essential objective of creating art work does not rely on what I can paint or draw, but on how I do it displayed. My priority toward the subject is to fuse into a refined and mature integrity revealing interactive feedback between viewer and the nature. You can paint whatever you like as long as it moves you to do so. However, I am more interested in take advantage of this instrument(I call it that way it carries metaphorical similarity as much as piano or violin of the musician plays with) to compose a stroke of wave in order to demonstrate a visual voice. Once given this voice, I will sing a beautiful song as much as it permits. That is going to be good one.
I learned how to dedicate love of painting to turn to glow of eternity as adorable fashion from Vincent Van Gogh. Found important concept on artistic personality from Leonardo Vinci who was great imitator of the nature the God created. The genius hands say what makes great artist is to focus on two things in painting, which is human, and its moral intention." I credit Italian painter Rosalba Carriera for bold and unique capability as a women portraitist.
Focus of creating landscape painting is to appreciate the nature and to revoke and reinforce its beauty and it is an invitation to somewhere I like to be in with audience viewer.
To make a successful portrait is not about recording literal appearance in front, but interactive inspiration drawing hidden treasure in association with the subject.
There are many beautiful things in life, but over time, they are destined to fade away or disappear no matter whether noticed or not. Artist's mind is there as a natural camera filter to capture and freeze the moment into monumental event.
My personal goal is to show the vivid sensibility toward surroundings and nature to achieve a timeless recognition. I will have my eyes open to see and tell how the universe should look for truthfulness through insight of beautiful mind as if the world exists the way I think.
